Climbing Kilimanjaro Rongai Route possible the whole year

Day 1
Arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport, transfer to Onsea House for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2
After breakfast we set off to Arusha National Park for a walking safari of about two to three hours (or less depending on the weather) and then continue for a game drive in the park. At a nice spot we will stop for a pick nick lunch. At the end of the afternoon we will return to Onsea House for dinner and overnight stay

Arusha National Park, often overlooked, is in fact a treasure, a rich tapestry of habitats, teeming with animals and birds. From the lush swamps of the Ngurdoto Crater to the tranquil beauty of the Momela Lakes and the rock alpine heights of Mt Meru, the terrain of the park is as varied as it is interesting.

Day 3
After breakfast transfer to Rongai gate at the village of Nale Moru 2,135m. The small winding path crosses maize fields before entering pine forest, and then gently climbs through a forest sheltering a variety of wildlife, including the Kilimanjaro Colobus monkey. Our campsite is on the edge of the moorland zone at Kikelewa caves 2,845m that gives you good views of Kenyan plains, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4
From Kikelewa caves 2,845m you will have challenging ascent to the “Second Cave” where you will relax and take lunch with superb view of Kibo and the ice fields on the crater rim. After lunch proceed towards the jagged peaks of Mawenzi, where we camp in a sheltered valley 3,775m near Kikelewa caves is set, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5
A short but steep climb up grassy slopes offers superb views of this wilderness area. The vegetation zone ends shortly before we reach our next camp at Mawenzi Tarn 4,735m, spectacularly situated beneath the towering spires of Mawenzi Peak. Spend the afternoon acclimatization and exploring the area, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6
We cross the saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo peaks to reach Kibo campsite 4700m, The remaining hours of this day is to get prepared for the last ascent to Uhuru peak, so take your time and relax, dinner and overnight at Kibo campsite at 4700m.

Day 7
Early morning climbing starts from Kibo to Gillman’s Point then to UHURU PEAK!!  Passing close to spectacular glacier and ice cliffs in the summit area, we will summit and start our way down to Horombo camp 3,780m, on the way we will stop at Kibo for lunch, then continue down through Marangu route to Horombo camp, where we will have dinner and overnight.

Day 8
Altitude 3,780m walk down to Marangu gate at 1,800m, descend steadily through the moorland, pass Mandara hut 2,750m and through a lush rain forest to the Marangu Park gate where you will get certificates, for those reach Gillman’s Point or the winner to the Uhuru Peak! Transfer to Onsea House for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 9
Day room at Onsea House and at the end of the evening transfer to Kilimanjaro airport for your flight back home.
